The "piecita", or "closet" of his Argentine hometown, is the room where the young designer would disappear to work with balsa wood, designing and sculpting those little models that would one day turn out to his eyes as the most beautiful cars in the world. It was in Casilda, where Horacio Pagani was born on November 10, 1955.
As a child, Horacio spent his time in the store of Tito Ispani, a local model-maker working on naval and aeronautical projects, trying to learn all the secrets concerning the techniques of finishing fragile wood and the mystery of his perfect Duco paintwork.
Today, some of these models, which have survived the ravages of time and the indifference of many who at the time were unable to appreciate them properly, are on display in the new museum in Via Dell'Industria 26, San Cesario sul Panaro, Modena.
When you point a visionary bow at a star and let yourself float on the wings of dreams towards an unpredictable destination, thirsting for perfection and rebelling against mediocrity, you carry with you the mysterious springtime of an ideal.
Born from the passion of a little boy, the Zonda C12 is the first Pagani supercar to be built in the San Cesario sul Panaro workshop. The bodywork, inspired by the silver arrows of the Mercedes C group, contains the essence of an incomparable wind, where art and science combine magnificently to create a unique symphony, both fascinating and disconcerting.
The beating heartof the Zonda S lies beneath the lightweight rear hood. It's centrally located, supported by a molybdenum-chromium chassis and wrapped in a specially designed air intake system.
Enclosed in a molybdenum-chromium frame, the Mercedes-Benz AMG 7.3 engine is capable of delivering its full 555 hp and 750 Nm of torque, even in open-air driving.
The Pagani Zonda F was designed to reflect the philosophy shared by Horacio Pagani and world champion racing driver Juan Manuel Fangio, which implies a commitment to mission, vision and purpose without neglecting essential concepts such as lightness, safety, performance and inventiveness.
Inheriting the "genetic heritage" of its sister coupé version, the Zonda Roadster F features a folding roof with a carbon-fibre central section and a canvas lower section.
Zonda Cinque is the Pagani workshop's response to a specific request submitted by the official Hong Kong dealer:
"The most extreme road-legal Zonda ever created".
After seven years of hard work, I'm now in a position to tell you a bit of the story and the path that led to the birth of the Huayra, the name of the C9 project.
The name "BC" stands for the initials of Benny Caiola, a person who has greatly inspired Horacio Pagani over the years. Benny was so impressed by the passion and technology of the cars Horacio designed from the outset that he went down in history as the first customer to buy a Pagani Automobile.
The dream of a car like the Huayra Roadster can only be told through the words of Horacio Pagani, the man who more than anyone else has imagined, desired and shaped it, like the great sculptors of the past who had to struggle with shapeless but full of soul marble blocks.
A spontaneous, unstoppable emotion. A burning desire that led the Customer to dream of a new work of art: another Pagani creation. And so, in 2017, the idea of the Huayra Roadster BC was born. From a curious set of circumstances, a demanding research project was launched with meticulous, almost obsessive, attention to detail and design to create a highly distinctive, street-legal Pagani hypercar that would combine the unrivalled sensations of driving a roadster with the most cutting-edge technology available today.
